Breaking Down Barriers to Education
We believe that no child should stop pursuing education because of financial constraints. The public education system in Honduras is free for people under 18 years of age. However, the children in the Los Pinos community face significant barriers to access given the precarious financial realities in which they live.
Children face severe difficulties paying for transportation, school materials, school uniforms, and other school related costs that might seem mundane to others. Furthermore, many teenagers in the community must take jobs to help financially provide for their families and are thus forced to make the difficult choice between continuing their education or putting food on the table.
We firmly believe that education is one of the pillars on which we build healthier and more plentiful communities. In order to materialize our vision of nurturing the Minds of the children of Los Pinos, we provide scholarships and financial assistance to those who struggle to cover the costs related to schooling. Furthermore, we also provide academic tutoring and academic counseling to guide the children and teenagers as they make important decisions regarding their education.
By helping break down the barriers that limit access to education we ensure that the children of Los Pinos can take courageously take the Path towards a Life of Plenty!
